Who We Are

We are the only national organisation in Aotearoa NZ that provides free care and support for children, young people and their whānau impacted by childhood kidney disease and urinary tract conditions.

Our work started back in 1990 when founder, Elaine Simons started Kidney Kids as a parent support group and later registered us as a national charity. At any one time, we are supporting around 400 children and young people with kidney disease and urinary tract issues.

While our support is not clinical, we do work in collaboration with clinicians, the team at Starship, other organisations in the kidney health sector and other children’s charities for the best outcomes for our Kidney Kids.

We advocate for improved kidney healthcare and effective resources for all those affected by kidney disease.
