Our Board
The Kidney Kids Board is a team of leaders that are committed to driving our charity’s vision. With diverse backgrounds, our board members work collaboratively to make decisions that benefit our Kidney Kids and their families.
Chairman
Dave Bodger
Dave holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics from Lincoln University. He has worked in the Australasian oil industry since university including 17 years as the General Manager of Gull New Zealand. Dave retired from full-time work at Gull in 2023 and remains on the Gull Board.
Dave, a passionate Cantabrian, lives on Auckland’s North Shore with his wife Julie and their four adult children. Dave can often be found swimming or fishing from his jet ski around the Hauraki Gulf. His favourite weekly activity is a walk along Long Bay beach with Julie.
Dave became involved in Kidney Kids following a donation of his kidney to his daughter Anna in 2023.
Siobhan Richards
Siobhan holds a post graduate Bachelor of Science from the University of the Witwatersrand. She has worked in the medical device industry for past 13 years and is passionate about ENT and the positive impact her role has on the wider community of New Zealand.
Siobhan is originally from South Africa but has called New Zealand home for 15 years and lives on Auckland’s North Shore. Siobhan can often be found in an operating theatre, her art studio or on an outdoor adventure.
Siobhan is a proud mother of her 9-year-old son Jakob, a fellow Kidney Kid.
Siobhan became involved in Kidney Kids when she was looking for more support on her son’s kidney journey in 2015.
Sarah Manson
Sarah’s background is as a Logistics Manager for a large national and international race car team. Once her daughter was diagnosed with FSGS that didn’t respond to treatments, she quit work to focus on her daughter’s dialysis and care.
During her time away from the formal workforce, Sarah became the Deputy Chair and then Chair of Te Whatu Ora Family Advisory Council for four years. She also became involved with the Kidney Kids board to give families a voice, having experienced and still undergoing the journey of kidney failure with her daughter, as a child and now as a youth. Sarah lives in rural Canterbury with her children and horses.
Jean Koh
Dr. Jean Koh is a Paediatric Nephrologist at Starship Children’s Hospital who is dedicated to support children with kidney diseases. She has worked with families of children with kidney diseases in Australia, Canada and Singapore.
As a board member she provides an invaluable wealth of knowledge and understanding of the challenges Kidney Kids’ families face. She believes that every child with kidney disease can live their best life.
Adelle McBeth
After studying at the University of Auckland, while she was undertaking treatment for her kidney disease, Adelle worked between New Plymouth and Auckland in investor relations and marketing for a fund management company, eventually becoming Head of Operations in the senior leadership team.
Adelle became a Kidney Kid herself when she was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome at 12 years old and has since undergone two kidney transplants, in 2000 and 2017. She now has a son who is also a Kidney Kid due to an unrelated kidney condition at birth.
Since the birth of her son, Adelle has reduced her work commitments to spend time with her son and is currently consulting, mostly in the human resource space which she trained in.
Adelle lives in New Plymouth with her husband and son, and they enjoy the outdoor lifestyle Taranaki offers with plenty of time in the water, the seaside and on mountain trails.
Mike Casey
Mike, who has worked in the construction industry as a quantity surveyor since 1987, is a Director of Kingstons Project Management & Kingston Partners Limited. Mike is proud to be a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute and an associate member of the Arbitrators & Mediators Institute of New Zealand. He is also a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.
Outside of his busy work life, Mike has been involved in all levels of rugby in New Zealand as a coach for Under 5’s through to Women’s Seniors. He has also coached the National Provincial Men’s Rugby, Super 15 Men’s Rugby and International rugby for both men and women teams.
Mike lives and works in Auckland with his wife Jo-anne and his four children.
Mike is passionate about being on the board of Kidney Kids and hopes he can make a difference to better the lives of Kidney Kids and their families.
Bryce Bluett
Bryce has broad experience in financial and commercial legal matters, having initially worked in the Commercial Affairs Division of the Justice Department and subsequently a large finance company before obtaining his law degree and commencing practice as a lawyer in 1994. During his time as a lawyer, he has dealt with a wide range of financial and commercial matters, including being in-house counsel for a major bank, and assisting and advising a varied range of business clients on disputes, commercial and financial documents and transactions.
Away from the office Bryce spends his time as an untrained but keen DIYer tackling various renovation, painting, plumbing and electrical projects, and working on his vast collection of coffee machines, and spending as much time as possible fishing in the Coromandel.
