Southern Stars Telephone Fundraising Campaign 2026

Southern Stars Telephone Fundraising Campaign 2026

Kidney Kids NZ is incredibly grateful to once again partner with Southern Stars Charitable Trust for their annual telephone fundraising appeal in support of our Kidney Kids and their whānau.

We rely on the generosity of our supporters to ensure our Kidney Kids and their whānau receive the support they need and deserve, and this annual appeal plays an important role in making that possible.

This year’s telephone fundraising campaign will commence on Tuesday 27 October and run until Friday 18 December.

This Year’s Appeal Will Support Two Key Initiatives:

1. Kidney Kids Camp 2027 – Creating Memories, Building Friendships and Confidence
For many of our Kidney Kids, attending a regular school camp isn’t possible due to their medical needs and the challenges they face. Our annual Kidney Kids Camp provides a special opportunity to experience new adventures, build confidence, develop independence and form friendships with others who understand their journey.

Bringing Kidney Kids together from across Aotearoa New Zealand, our camp is provided completely free of charge to families, removing financial barriers and ensuring that cost isn’t an obstacle to taking part.

With valuable support from Southern Stars and those who contributed to last year’s appeal, our 2026 camp brought together 51 attendees from across the country for a weekend of adventure, laughter and connection at Ngāruawāhia Christian Youth Camp. From rock climbing and kayaking to flying foxes and campfire marshmallows, it was a weekend filled with fun and memorable experiences.

At our camp this year, our Kidney Kids and their families shared some heartfelt messages about what these experiences mean to them.

Looking ahead to 2027, we’re excited to return to the Sir Peter Blake Marine Education and Recreation Centre (MERC) at Long Bay, Auckland where our Kidney Kids will have the opportunity to take part in a range of marine-based activities, explore the ocean and enjoy a special visit to Kelly Tarlton’s.

At the heart of it all is giving our Kidney Kids the chance to have fun, make friends and enjoy being kids. Hear from our Kidney Kids about what they love most about camp:

2. Growing Our Regional Support and Community Connections

At Kidney Kids NZ, we want our Kidney Kids and their whānau to feel understood and connected, no matter where they live. That’s why we’ve been growing our family support team, expanding into Christchurch and Waikato this year while strengthening our Auckland team.

In 2027, we plan to continue growing our Auckland team and expand into Wellington and Dunedin. This will help us provide more direct, personalised support to families in these regions, while increasing our face-to-face engagement with families in other parts of New Zealand.

Funds raised through this appeal will help us strengthen local networks, connect with more families in their communities and create opportunities for our Kidney Kids and their whānau to come together. We want families to know they’re not navigating their child’s kidney journey alone, wherever they are in Aotearoa.

Thank You for Your Support

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Southern Stars Charitable Trust for their continued dedication and support, and to everyone who generously contributes to this annual appeal.

Thanks to your generosity, we can continue being there for Kidney Kids and their whānau across Aotearoa, helping them lead their best lives.
