It is with much regret that we record the passing of Jonah Lomu, our Patron and friend. Jonah was a warm and generous person and while an iconic figure on the rugby field could relate so well with our “kids” when he met them at our camps, Christmas parties and other events. He gave of his time and his heart and will be remembered with much love.

Jonah was important to Kidney Kids on two levels, both as an international star whose stature has grown even since his retirement from the rugby field, and as a fellow traveller with kidney disease whose compassion shown to our sick kids will be with us forever.

Jonah’s “never give up” mantra will be etched within Kidney Kids forever:

“For me to get through the toughest periods in my life, I had to look within to find the energy to do it. I don’t give up. Never have. Never will.”

Our deepest sympathies are extended to his wife Nadene, and sons Brayley and Dhyreille.
